Kamal Bankay began his love affair with the entertainment industry as a teenager deejaying high school parties and then transitioned to hosting house parties in the 90s and early 2000s. This vision for the potential of entertainment saw Kamal developing his own enterprises which have become significant mainstays in the Jamaican entertainment landscape at home and abroad. Today, he is chairman of Dream Weekend and the committee of stakeholders for Jamaica Carnival, two of the largest event festivals in Jamaica. He is also co-founder and director of Jamaica’s number one nightspot brand – Ribbiz Ultra Lounge & Ocean Lounge , as well as co-owner and operator of the Diplo and Major Lazer events in Jamaica, providing a major international platform for world renowned and local artists to showcase their talent.
Over the years he has strengthened the public and private partnership for development of the entertainment industry through his appointments as the Chairman of the Sports and Entertainment Network at the Ministry of Tourism and Director of the Jamaica Entertainment Advisory Board at the Ministry of Culture, Gender Entertainment and Sports. Mr. Bankay has also lent his expertise as a council member for the Tourism Linkages Council and Jamaica Hotel and Tourism Association.
